In the summer of 2011, at age 12, Stephanie Erin Brill started “going rogue” performing at the edge of festivals, catching interest from passersby. The feedback from those listening encouraged her to pursue bigger stages.
Today at 16, the award winning singer songwriter has penned more than 25 original songs. Her studio produced EP “Save The Day” is her third release, she’s played major gigs and received a plethora of accolades including two WAMI Rising Star nominations, a MAMA (Madison Area Music Association) 1st Chair Award, opened for Grammy award winning songwriter Jon Vezner, been selected for the 2014 Steel Bridge Music Festival, and the list goes on and on.
Brill’s influences span the past and present and include piano based songwriters Regina Spektor, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Billy Joel, Sara Bareilles and Ben folds. This emerging young artist should be on your radar.
With a goal of becoming “The Next Artist To Watch” Stephanie accepted the challenge of creating all new material for her First Studio Produced EP and to assist in “Launching Her Career” to the next level. The highly anticipated collection of 5 original songs, showcase her maturity as a songwriter, as these songs are her strongest and most personal yet. You will be treated to a true taste of piano based Folky/Pop Americana music, with vocals that at times will be rich and powerful, soulful, sweet and gentile.
“a young, up and coming artist who we’ll all be keeping our eyes on”
– Richard Pinney, Singer Songwriter/Music Exec
In the Anton Music Productions Stephanie improved her songwriting arrangements and lyrics under the direction of producer Tony Schueller. Stephanie was assisted on the recording with talented session musicians Dave Schoepke (Willie Porter’s Drummer) and Noah Sugarman “After The Blackout” on bass, along with other noted artists.
“Save The Day” EP was released digitally on April 25, 2014 through Brill’s website and CD Baby. Brill’s Official Music Video supporting the “Save The Day” single and EP was released on April 10th, 2014. In her mask and cape, our super hero takes to the skies, observing the excessive overexposure of today’s pop culture and is determined to “Save the Day”. The producers of this campy music video involved the creative use of “green screen” backgrounds and flying scenes!
“Stephanie has a great passion for writing and creating great original music at such a young age. She does not want to always learn the next new cover song, she wants to create the newest hit song that everyone will cover.”
– James McMahon, WAMI President
Nothing says, “We Believe In You” more than fans putting up their hard earned money to help you realize your dreams. Through a successful Kickstarter campaign, fans of Stephanie Erin Brill committed pledges to offset the cost to press physical copies of the “Save The Day” EP! The physical copies of the EP jacket and disc were released on May 16th, 2014.
At the 2013 Wisconsin Singer Songwriter Series competition, Stephanie’s piano based indie/folk/pop/rock made Milwaukee Journal Sentinel music writer, Piet Levy, eat his words. “And at the end of the night, when 16-year-old Stephanie Erin Brill from Cedarburg walked onstage, I silenced preconceived prejudices that she’d be a lesser talent because she was by far the youngest contestant. It was probably the gazillionth time a musician had sung about a break-up, but…
“she brought a candid perspective to the subject matter. It was about the song, and in the end Brill won third place.”
Stephanie has racked up notable gigs on her home turf including Summer Sounds/Cedarburg and in Milwaukee at the Pabst Theatre, The Wisconsin Center, and on TMJ4’s The Morning Blend, Cedarburg’s Strawberry Fest Main Stage, Miramar Theatre, Cedarburg Cultural Center and Cedarburg Performing Arts Center, Steel Bridge Songfest, WAMI Downtown Alive Musician Showcase and many more….
Looking forward the future is bright! The coming summer months will include many live performances at The Miramar Theatre, Mile Of Music, Cedarburg Cultural Center, Steel Bridge Songfest, Waukesha Friday Nights Live, Make Music Madison, Enderis Park, Madison Farmers Market, Cedarburg Festivals and many more!
A new group of songs is waiting in the wings.
So stay tuned in the summer of 2014!
